The most notable difference about Glen Strathfarrar is the access issue. The access road at Struy is gated and access to the Glen is only allowed between certain times. The current entrance times are not on any website as far as I could tell but as of the Summer of 2011 are 9-13, 13.30-20 hrs except closed all day on Tuesday as well as Wednesday morning. You will not get access for your car at any other time I can assure you!  Because of this access control, the Glen itself  is very quiet and peaceful but the road is pitted with huge potholes so beware.
 

After the bad weather in Glen Affric it was nice to head out into the hills with the reasonable chance of the fair day. The path up the Allt Toll a Mhuic offered an easy ascent where I was accompanied by a retired minister who had nearly completed his round of Munros. We parted our ways after a pleasant hour of conversation at the loch and the first peak of the day Sgurr na Fearstaig was summited. It is definitely worth the slight detour to this peak since the view is stunning. Onwards to first Munro following the well-defined ridge as far as Sgurr a Choire Ghlais and then onto the more rounded Carn nan Gobhar and Sgurr na Ruaidhe. The only other sole I met on the day happened to be a fell runner and we stopped and chatted for quite a while. The discussion alighted upon the Bob Graham Round and I was encouraged to give it go. The descent was soft and easily sloped right back down to the road and the walk back to the car to complete a relatively easy and neat day.
